No Hacking. No gift credits. Just some bug with the e-commerce company. That's right I got to order a mobile for free of cost. And this got delivered within 10 hours. I was so lucky! But I ended up not having the mobile. And here's why.
A colleague messaged in the middle of the night that the mobile could be ordered for free. There would be a high probability that the e-commerce company could cancel the order. I tried to try my luck. I choose same-day delivery to try luck. I went to sleep at 7 am.
Flights are engineered to be super safe. Analysis reveals that a typical plane crash involves 7 consecutive errors. Malcom Gladwell focused the entire 7th chapter of the book Outliers on this topic. That's also the case with many failed projects.
And the 7 errors
- I wake up at 3.30 pm and read a Telegram message from my friend and realize the mobile went to him at 2 pm and he returned it. He realized it was me as the billing address was mine and the shipping address was his. My name is AR and I mistakenly ordered it to my friend AN. We share our e-commerce account. Also, We share our first name !!!
- Not being attentive of the data & the assumptions were error.- I never got confused in the past because we lived in different cities. And the shipping address brief on the e-commerce platform who should 'Fist Name-City, pin'. As he recently moved to the same city and the shipping address became deceiving.
- Always choosing to dance in chaos - Not using my family's premier account which is clean and neat. And using a premier account shared with friends which has 20+ address locations.
- Screwed up sleep cycle - AN called me on telegram. My telegram was on my laptop and laptop was shut as I was not awake. Adding more chaos, I over slept by 3 hours this day.
- Not being accessible - When the phone reached AN at 1 pm. He was confused and tried to reach out to me. I have not repaired my mobile phone in 2 months. My sim card was in my mothers mobile. Which also did not ring. I knew the network was bad at my home. But I did not change it from long time. He called my dad who was out for work and could not give a good response.
- Doing Random things & Lazily - While ordering the mobile I selected to add gift note. And I picked up the template gift note which had the signature of AN. "Enjoy your gift- AN". When I ordered the mobile I thought my mother Seeing that AN was super confused. And decided to return for my benefit (assuming I paid for it).
- Not passing any message to my parents that somethings could coming. Little did I guess so many errors spread over years would attack in the middle of one sleep. 😛
